Overall System Status:
Please take time to read the following information before you buy a computer. When you have made a decision about which computer best suits your needs, you may place your order online using Dartmouth's Computer Store website.
Dartmouth requires all students to own a computer that meets minimum hardware requirements and works on the Dartmouth network. While you may certainly choose to purchase your computer anywhere, there are some advantages to buying through the Dartmouth Computer Store. All computers sold through the campus store meet our hardware standards, and are "network ready" out of the box. In addition, you'll receive an educational discount when buying through the store, and can have warranty service performed on campus. If you already own a computer, or plan to buy one elsewhere, please check to be sure it meets our minimum supported hardware requirements.
Regardless of whether you purchase a computer through Dartmouth or bring your own, effective July 1, 2014 Dartmouth made available the Microsoft Office suite of applications to all students for their own use on up to five of their own personal devices while they are at Dartmouth. You will NOT need to purchase Microsoft Office separately. See http://www.dartmouth.edu/comp/soft-comp/software/downloads/mac/ms-office-updates.html to install Microsoft Office on a Macintosh computer; see http://www.dartmouth.edu/comp/soft-comp/software/downloads/windows/ms-updates.html to install Microsoft Office on a Windows computer.
To order: In late May you'll receive your Dartmouth user name and password. At that time, go online to computerstore.dartmouth.edu to view the packages we're offering and to place an order.
If you have questions about the minimum requirements, or our packages, call the incoming student computer hotline at (603) 646-1104 (from the U.S. or Canada) or (866) 720-7567 (from outside the U.S. or Canada; the call is toll-free) or send e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org.
