Public Computers and GreenPrint Release Stations

Public computers are clusters of personal computers and workstations in open-access work spaces that are connected to the computer network. These computers are available in several locations around campus. They are in high demand, so please be courteous of other users. These computers are maintained by Computing Services; other facilities are maintained by departments or other groups.

Public Computers are available in the Baker, Berry, and Kresge libraries. Specialized computing centers are available in Bartlett and Silsby halls (for faculty in the humanities and for students in social science courses, respectively). Computing work spaces are available in Cummings and Bosworth halls (for faculty, graduate students, and undergraduate students in the engineering and business schools, respectively). These clusters usually offer easy access to Macintosh- or Windows-based personal computers or UNIX-based workstations, plus printing services.

There are public computers located in the following buildings that are set up for e-mail use only: Alumni Gym, Brace Commons, Collis, Dartmouth Hall, Fairchild, Hopkins Center, Moore, Robinson, Rocky, Silsby, and Thayer Lobby.

Several academic departments (for example, the departments of Computer Science, Earth Sciences, Geography, Mathematics, Music, and Physics and Astronomy) provide specialized laboratories or work spaces specifically to support the computing needs of their disciplines.

GreenPrint is Dartmouth's distributed printing system, with more than a dozen printer release stations located around campus.
