Visitors to Campus

To connect to the Internet on campus, select Dartmouth Public from the list of available public networks.

Dartmouth maintains two campus networks, wired and wireless.

The Dartmouth campus network has a fiber optic backbone organized in a star topology, providing 120+ building networks with 30,000+ active data network ports, as well as a campus-wide wireless network

Network Speeds (Wired)

  • Core network: 10gbps (gigabits per second)
  • Room jacks: 100mbps (megabits per second)

Network Speeds (Wireless)

  • The wireless network supports 802.11a/b/g/n wireless clients
  • Speeds up to 300mbps are supported

Internet Access Speeds

  • Commodity Internet: 4gbps (gigabits per second)
  • Internet2 network (Abilene): 8gbps (gigabits per second)
