Configuring Apple Mail (Macintosh) for New Blitz
- Start Mail. If account settings do not come up immediately, then choose Preferences from the Mail menu, then choose Accounts. Remove any unused accounts on the left by highlighting them and then clicking the minus sign at the bottom of the left column. To add a new account for Blitz, click the plus sign at the bottom of the left column. Enter the following information:
- Full Name: Your full name (i.e., John A. Doe)
- Email Address: Your e-mail address: e.g., John.A.Doe@dartmouth.edu for faculty and staff, or John.A.Doe.15@dartmouth.edu for students)
- Password: Your current Dartmouth.edu e-mail account password
- User Name: Enter <your NetID>@kiewit.dartmouth.edu (i.e., d12345w@kiewit.dartmouth.edu).
- Click here if you need to look up your NetID.
- Click Continue.
- Some versions of Apple Mail may also ask for the following:
- Account Type: Exchange or Exchange 2007 (drop down list)
- Incoming Server: pod51008.outlook.com
- Outgoing Server: pod51008.outlook.com
- Web Access Server: pod51008.outlook.com
- Authentication for Outgoing Mail: Required
- Authentication Type: UserName/Password
- Encryption for Authentication: None/Plain
- Click Continue.
- You should then be given an Account Summary with the information you entered. You can also set up Address Book contacts and iCal calendars by clicking the checkbox next to those items. Click Create.
- Your account will automatically be set up. It can take up to 45 minutes for e-mail messages and folders to be available for use.

Address Search Capability Setup
- Choose Preferences from the Mail menu, then choose Composing.
- Click the Configure LDAP button.
- Click the + sign located in the bottom left had corner of the new window to add the Blitz Directory.
- Enter the following fields as listed here:
- Name: Blitz Lookup
- Server: ldap.dartmouth.edu
- Search Base: dc=Dartmouth,dc=edu (exactly as shown here)
- Search limit: 1000
- Port: 389
