Accessing Documentum from a Macintosh Computer

  1. Download DocuLauncher from the Software Downloads web page. Once downloaded, double-click the DocuLauncher.zip file to expand it, resulting in the DocuLauncher application.
  2. Double-click the DocuLauncher application, then enter your DND name and password in the DocuLauncher window, then click Logon.
  3. The first time you use DocuLauncher, you will need to log out of your computer or restart your computer for the configuration to work. After the first time, when you click Logon, the program will behave normally.
  4. Your default web browser will start and point you to the Documentum Web site. Most of the latest web browsers will work for accessing Documentum. If you get a message that says your web browser is not supported, but you want to try it any way, click OK and continue with the directions below. If you want to try a different web browser, click OK, then close your current web browser.

Note: Your web browser must be configured to allow pop-ups from oracle-www.dartmouth.edu.
  5. When your web browser starts, you will be prompted to log in again. Use your full DND (BlitzMail) credentials to log into the Safeguard or FileStore repositories. In the Name field, enter your complete DND name (e.g., John A. Doe). Nicknames are not allowed.
  6. In the Password field, enter your DND password. Both the user name and password are case sensitive.
  7. Leave the Repository field set to Safeguard.
  8. Do not place a check in the Remember my credentials field. This will allow others to log into the system as if they were you.
  9. Click Login. If you receive a warning about the application’s digital signature, click Always Trust.

Note: When you are logged in to Documentum, two globe icons will appear on your desktop (under Mac OS 10.4 and OS 10.6) or in the folder window sidebar (under Mac OS 10.5) labeled TMP and CO. These network server icons must be present for the Documentum security to work.

If you have problems running DocuLauncher and get an “Unable to mount volumes” error, try logging in to BlitzMail and changing your password to one that is exactly eight characters. Wait 15 minutes for a password synchronization process to occur, then try logging in again with your new password. If DocuLauncher still doesn't work properly for you, you will need to connect to the TMP and CO network shares manually each time you access Documentum. To do this follow the steps below. Failure to run either Doculauncher or to follow the steps below each time prior to accessing Documentum will cause your files to no be secure:

  1. From the Finder menu click Go then Connect to server.
  2. In the server address field enter smb://charade/TMP/<username> where <username> is replaced by your full name (e.g. John A. Doe). When prompted for a user name enter your full name with underscores between each name and no other punctuation(e.g. John_A_Doe).
  3. From the Finder menu click Go then Connect to server.
  4. In the server address field enter smb://charade/CO/<username> where <username> is replaced by your full name (e.g. John A. Doe). When prompted for a user name enter your full name with underscores between each name and no other punctuation(e.g. John_A_Doe).
  5. Start your Web browser and goto https://documentum.dartmouth.edu/webtop/ then follow from step 4 at the top of the page.
