Personal Information Manager (PIM) Support Policies

Peter Kiewit Computing Services offers support for several types of handheld computing devices (PIM's). We recommend you contact your department's IT support office to request assistance before purchasing these devices or to find out more information about the standard hardware and software components that come with the products. Add-ons, plug-ins, and third-party software are not supported.

Specific information about our support for PIM's is provided below.

Hardware

We will provide assistance with setting up e-mail on any PIM that supports IMAP e-mail or Exchange including:

  • Apple iPhone/iTouch software
  • Palm OS
  • Windows CE
  • Windows Mobile 2003 and higher
  • Symbian OS

Note: This includes cradles, adapters, and Wi-Fi cards used for connectivity.

Software

The minimum system software requirements for your computer, when used with a PIM, are provided on the Supported Hardware and Software Web page.

Computing Services supports a campus-wide calendaring system called Oracle Calendar for faculty and staff. This is a multi-platform, network calendar program that uses a separate program called Oracle Calendar Sync or SyncML to synchronize the calendar with your handheld device. Oracle Calendar Sync or SyncML licenses must be purchased separately for each PIM being synchronized to Oracle Calendar.

Assistance

If you have questions, please contact the IT Service Desk (Help Desk) at 646-2999 and select from the options provided, send e-mail to help@dartmouth.edu, or call your department's IT support office.
