Annual planning is supported by Information Technology (IT) Planning
Coordinators assigned to each department. They work closely with General
Support Consultants to make sure Computing Services provides timely, effective,
and easy-to-access computing help to College departments.
IT Planning Coordinators are typically a member of the Academic or
Administrative Computing groups within Computing Services. Each
coordinator provides planning support to an assigned group of departments,
according to the following responsibilities and scope.
Planning Responsibilities
- Works closely with the General Support Consultant to ensure effective,
coordinated information technology planning.
- Passes along information regarding support issues to the appropriate
General Support Consultant.
- Acts as the Computing Services customer interface for defined planning
responsibilities (see below).
- Meets with assigned departments on an annual basis to discuss and
understand business directions, and to review and prioritize future technology
needs.
- Engages other Computing Services staff, as needed, to assess resource
requirements for identified technology needs.
- Submits departmental technology needs for the annual Computing Services
planning process.
- Coordinates the fulfillment of planned needs, according to resource
availability, customer priorities, and business cycles.
- Ensures that customers know the status of their technology plans at all
times through regular, timely, and accurate communications.
Planning Scope
- Plan for all aspects of institutional and departmental strategic
information system needs (hardware, software, staffing, consulting).
- Plan for IT infrastructure needs in support of the day-to-day business
operations at the College (server/network capacity).
