Upgrade to Blackboard 7

The College's installation of the Blackboard application will be upgraded to Version 7 on June 12-13, 2007. Blackboard will not be available during these two days. DMS courses, which will still be in session, will be moved to an interim server for the duration of the upgrade.

How Will the Move to Blackboard 7 Affect Faculty and Students?

  • All existing Blackboard course Web sites will be preserved. Access to all old materials will be maintained.
  • Overall, Blackboard 7 will not look and feel very different.
  • The Discussion Board tool has been significantly redesigned.
  • A number of new tools and features are available, such as new test question formats, multi-language support, and a podcasting tool.

We invite faculty and support staff to attend one of our What's new and different in Blackboard 7? workshops, scheduled on several dates in June, September, and October. Visit our online workshop Web page to sign up.

We have also created a Web resource that provides an overview of the changes and new features in Blackboard 7; see Upgrade to Blackboard 7.
