Do you own a late-model iBook or PowerBook? Apple Computer is voluntarily exchanging the rechargeable batteries on some of those models sold since last October, following six consumer reports of overheating.
To find out if your battery qualifies, shut down the computer, and remove the battery. The serial number is printed beneath a bar code. Model numbers A1061, A1078, and A1079 and serial numbers beginning with HQ441... through HQ507... and 3X446... through 3X510... should be exchanged immediately.
