In this issue:
Dartmouth has spoken! 1,628 votes were cast for the name of Dartmouth’s new communication and collaboration system (also known as Microsoft Online Services) and the winner was “Blitz” with over 1,000 votes. The second place finisher was “DartBlitz” with 17% of the vote.
The project management team will now work with our communications advisor, Public Affairs and others to create a new Blitz logo and theme that will be rolled out in January. The project website will also be updated, accordingly. More information on this topic is coming soon.
The project team continues its work to set up the Microsoft Online Services testing environment; that work is scheduled for completion by 12/3. On 12/6, the team will begin a full-scale evaluation of Exchange Online. The purpose of this evaluation is to understand exactly how Exchange works on Mac, Windows and mobile platforms, and to identify differences from our current e-mail and calendaring tools that the user community will need to know.
While the Exchange Online evaluation is underway, the project team will be setting up the SharePoint Online and Lync Online products in the test environment. The evaluation of these components is scheduled to start in early January.
