In Spring 2011, Dartmouth began implementing Microsoft Office 365 as its primary communication and collaboration toolset for all students, faculty, and staff. Office 365 will be known as the "Blitz" system at Dartmouth. The new Blitz system will replace BlitzMail and Oracle Calendar (hence, Blitz-2-Blitz), and will provide new capabilities such as document sharing and web/video conferencing. This change will transform communication and collaboration activities across the institution by bringing together undergraduates, graduate students, faculty, schools, centers, and administrators in a unified and easy-to-use system.
Blitz-2-Blitz is collaborating closely with another Dartmouth Computing initiative, the Identity Management (IdM) Project, which aims to modernize and enhance how we manage usernames and passwords at the College. The result is a streamlined approach to logging in to Dartmouth systems, including the new Blitz.
A replacement for the current alumni e-mail system is being considered in a separate project.
