In the spring of 2008, the Council on Computing formed the Task Force on Email and Collaboration Technology (TEC-T) to explore possible replacements for the BlitzMail system and Oracle Collaborative Suite. TEC-T comprises a group of faculty, staff, students, and alumni advisors who have been exploring commercial and open-source email options with plans to make recommendations on alternatives to the current email and calendar systems used by the Dartmouth community. TEC-T has held focus groups and conducted surveys with various campus groups about their concerns and hopes for the new e-mail system.
Subcommittees
During the spring of 2009, TEC-T formed several subcommittees to take the task to the next level. Equipped with the user feedback collected in earlier terms, the subcommittees are now tasked with drafting a set of requirements for the new systems and evaluating which of the currently available email and collaborative tools best fit with the identified requirements. The results of their analysis will form the basis for TEC-T's recommendations. The deadline for this recommendation is end of spring term. More information on subcommittee charters and activities.
