Josie Harper

Considered a trailblazer of college athletics, Josie provided Dartmouth with three decades of "strong and distinguished leadership."

IMPACT ON DARTMOUTH

In the critical years since the passage of Title IX, Harper has supported and influenced all facets of men's and women's sports at Dartmouth—as a highly regarded women's lacrosse coach for 11 seasons, as an administrator, and most notably, as Director of Athletics from 2002 to 2009.

MAKING A MARK

Harper's many contributions to athletics have been recognized by her inductions into the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame, the West Chester University Hall of Fame, and Dartmouth's own hall of fame, the "Wearers of the Green," as well as by a special tribute from National Association of Collegiate Women Athletic Administrators.

EXTRA CREDIT

In recognition of her leadership and advocacy for women coaches and administrators, Harper received the Katherine Ley Award in 2005 from the Eastern College Athletic Conference, the largest conference in the United States.
