CCN Workshop Code of Conduct

The Center for Cognitive Neuroscience (CCN) strives to organize meetings and events that value inclusion, diversity and equity. We are dedicated to providing a welcoming, safe and harassment-free environment for people of every sex, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, marital status, disability, medical/genetic condition, physical appearance, race, ethnicity, age, religion, caste, socioeconomic status and/or country of origin. We encourage all participants to help us in creating a space where every member can benefit from participating in CCN events.

Harassment

Harassment of any kind will not be tolerated at CCN events. If you would like the organizers (Jim Haxby / Ida Gobbini) to be aware of any issues that arise during the conference, including any personal needs that may require adjusting how our meetings are structured, we encourage you to reach out to us privately. We have also provided an anonymous reporting mechanism for you to provide input and feedback. We are committed to making it a priority to incorporate your input and feedback.

Harassment includes, but is not limited to:

  • Verbal comments related to sex, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, marital status, disability, medical/genetic condition, physical appearance, race, ethnicity, age, religion, caste, socioeconomic status and/or country of origin.
  • Sexual images in public spaces
  • Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following
  • Harassing photography or recording
  • Inappropriate physical contact
  • Unwelcome sexual attention
  • Coercion
  • Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behavior

Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately. If a participant engages in harassing behavior, event organizers retain the right to take appropriate actions (e.g., ejecting a participant from the remainder of the event, barring a participant from future events) to maintain a welcoming environment for all participants. Event organizers may take action to redress anything designed to, or with the clear impact of, disrupting the event or making the environment hostile for any participants. We expect participants to follow these rules at all event venues and event-related social activities.

Accessibility

The CCN’s goal is to ensure that everyone can participate in all events in an equitable fashion. This includes event venues and venues for event-related social activities. The event organizers welcome any comments/concerns about accessibility, childcare, safety and security.
