An interview is not required, although we do encourage applicants to take advantage of the opportunity to have a conversation with a Dartmouth alum in their area. The interview process is automatic once you have applied; your name and contact information will be sent to a local alum who will get in touch with you so you can arrange a meeting. You do not need to contact the office to setup an interview. We have Dartmouth alums in many places in the US and around the world—but not quite everywhere—so we never hold the absence of an interview against you when considering your application. For students living abroad, our applicant volume outnumbers our alumni interviewer resources. Therefore, we will only offer alumni interviews if we need further information from an applicant.
