Canadian Citizens

2009-2010 (Summer 2009 - Spring 2010)

Application Process and Deadlines

If your family lives and works in Canada, please complete the following forms:

If your family lives and works in the U.S., the form for U.S. Citizens and Permanent Residents should be completed with the exception of filing the FAFSA which is used to award Federal funding.

The IDOC Process

Rather than sending your renewal application, your tax returns, and your parents’ tax returns, to the Financial Aid Office at Dartmouth, submit this documentation in one packet to the College Board Institutional Documentation Service (IDOC). Please do not fax or mail 2008 Federal Tax Returns or any application materials to the Financial Aid Office for the 2009-2010 academic year.

In early February, you will receive an email notification from the College Board that provides instructions for submitting all required paperwork. The notification will provide instructions on how to print a copy of your cover sheet which must be included for accurate and timely processing. The IDOC cover sheet includes a "bar code" specific to you.  This code ensures the scanned documents are maintained in a secure file. You must mail all information in one packet to the College Board along with the completed and signed IDOC Cover Sheet. The web address for additional IDOC information is https://idoc.collegeboard.com/idoc/.

Parents' and Student's 2008 Canadian Tax Returns. Signed copies of all pages and schedules (please do not provide the notice of assessment in lieu of your full tax return) should be submitted directly to the IDOC as soon as completed, but no later than April 1, 2009. The student’s name, class, and CSS ID should be written at the top of page 1. If no income tax return will be filed by you or your parents, this should be certified in writing by completing the 2008 Non-Filing Statement. Please be sure to provide all income received and the source of income.

Financial Aid Reviews

Financial Aid awards are normally based on prior year income as well as current assets. The Financial Aid Office recognizes that a family's financial circumstances can change. Please use the request for financial aid review form to notify us of changes in income, number of family members in college, high medical and/or dental expenses not itemized on Schedule A or any other changes to your financial situation.

Note: These forms are available in Adobe's PDF format. You will need the free Adobe Acrobat Reader software to view and print these forms. If you don't have Acrobat Reader installed, you can download it here.
