If you are a permanent resident or otherwise eligible for U.S. federal financial aid funds, please follow the application instructions for U.S. citizens. All other non-U.S. citizens should follow the instructions below.
If you and your family are citizens of another country (excluding Canada) and you are not eligible for U.S. federal financial aid funds, but you and your parents live and work in the U.S., please follow the application instructions for U.S. citizens, with one exception: you do not need to file the FAFSA with the U.S. Department of Education.
We are using the College Scholarship Service PROFILE Form to collect accurate, consistent information and to minimize the possibility for data entry errors. If the cost associated with the PROFILE Form is going to present a significant financial burden for your family, you may request permission to use an alternative form. Please send an email to Financial.Aid@Dartmouth.EDU that provides the following information:
We will review the information and respond to you by email.
• File the CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE Application with the College Scholarship Service (CSS). You can register and complete the PROFILE online at http://profileonline.collegeboard.com/. Dartmouth’s school code for CSS processing is 3351. Submit it electronically to CSS by November 1 for early decision or February 1 for regular decision. If your parents are divorced or separated, report only the information for the parent and stepparent (if applicable) with whom you live. Estimate 2009 income and taxes, if necessary, to meet deadlines (do not complete with 2008 income information.)
If you have difficulty completing the online PROFILE that cannot be resolved using the CSS help options, please contact our office: financial.aid@dartmouth.edu
•If your parents are divorced or separated, your noncustodial parent must complete the Noncustodial Parent PROFILE Application on the College Board’s website. The College Board will e-mail you instructions for completion of the online application to forward to your noncustodial parent. Your noncustodial parent’s information will be inaccessible to you and your custodial parent. This form should be submitted by November 15 for early decision or February 15 for regular decision.
• Submit by fax, email, or postal mail to the Financial Aid Office signed income and benefits statements from your parents’ employers. These statements should include the total amount earned in 2009, taxes paid (if known) and benefit allowances. Statements from employers must be in English or a translated copy must be attached. Please submit by November 15 for early decision or February 1 for regular decision.
