Questions & Answers
What are the costs of the program?
Other than the cost to get you from your home to your airport of departure, the program costs nothing. You may want to bring some spending money, but all meals will be covered by the College during your stay.
What kind of transportation assistance can I expect if I am selected to attend a Dartmouth Bound program?
Students selected to attend the program will receive round-trip airfare from home to Dartmouth. The most commonly used airports to get to Dartmouth are Manchester-Boston Regional Airport and Logan International Airport. Once students arrive they will receive transportation from the airport to the College. For students residing in New England, transportation assistance by rail or bus is typically offered.
Do you require SAT or ACT scores to attend the program?
No. However, a student's application can be greatly strengthened by including as much information about his or her standardized testing as is available. Test scores are but a single piece of information we use to evaluate students in our applicant pool, and we approach reading applications holistically rather than focusing on any single part of an applicant's profile. It ought to be noted, however, that if you intend to apply to Dartmouth for First-Year admission you will be required to submit either the SAT or ACT with Writing in addition to two SAT Subject Tests in any subjects of your choice.
Can I apply to more than one Dartmouth Bound program?
A student may apply for participation in a single program. Participation is ultimately limited to a single program.
What do you expect from a letter of recommendation?
A useful letter of recommendation for your Dartmouth Bound application will shed light on who you are as a student and community member from a perspective that isn't present elsewhere in your application. This letter of recommendation can come from your guidance counselor or from another person in your school or community who knows you well: a teacher, tribal leader, other mentor, etc. The person writing your recommendation should know you well and speak to your personal strengths and potential.
When will I be notified if I am accepted for participation in a Bound program?
Applicants to the Dartmouth Summer Visitation Programs will be notified of our decision in mid-June.
I live outside the United States, am I still eligible for these programs?
The Dartmouth Bound: Summer Program, Dartmouth Bound: STEM Exploration, and Dartmouth Bound: Native American Community are only available to students who live and/or attend high school in the United States and/or Puerto Rico.
Where can I find out more information about Dartmouth College?
The best place to find out more about Dartmouth before you come is to explore our website. Be sure to read about admissions as well as academics and student life. We also encourage students to monitor the "Dartmouth In Your City" link on the Admissions & Financial Aid homepage for information about when an admissions officer might be conducting an information session or school visit in your area this coming fall.
