Athletic Recruitment
Varsity Athletics
Dartmouth sponsors 34 intercollegiate varsity sports teams that compete in the Ivy League, the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference, and primarily at the NCAA Division 1 level.
Students who are interested in competing for one of Dartmouth’s 34 varsity teams should:
- Visit the team’s website
- Contact the program’s coaching staff
- Complete the recruiting questionnaire available on the team’s home page
As a member of the Ivy League, Dartmouth does not award athletic scholarships but the College’s coaches do recruit broadly to attract highly successful student athletes who will contribute to the success of our teams.
The Athletic Department works with the Admissions Office to identify applicants who have the potential to contribute to Dartmouth’s varsity teams, and the Admissions Committee factors these potential contributions into our review of an application. While the Admissions Committee relies on varsity coaches to evaluate a student’s athletic talents, applicants should also highlight their accomplishments in the Common Application.
Club Sports
Students interested in competing for one of Dartmouth’s many intercollegiate club teams are welcome to visit team websites and to contact the team’s coaches or the students who run the club to learn more about the opportunities provided by a club team. As is the case with other types of extracurricular activities, applicants are encouraged to use the Common Application to share the details of their involvement in a sport with the Admissions Committee.
