Start by creating an account at Commonapp.org. Don't forget the other items on your checklist.
Complete & Submit your Financial Aid Application (if applicable)
If you're applying for financial aid, start on the CSS Profile at ProfileOnline.CollegeBoard.com (and don't forget the other items on the checklist relevant to your financial aid application).
Remember, Financial Aid is a separate application because we're need-blind for everyone, so finances never affect your admissions decision.
