11-07 Our review article on metal-catalyzed asymmetric synthesis of P-stereogenic phosphines appeared in Synlett.  After a brief hiatus (see the 7-06 entry below) a new European student has arrived, British-born Samantha Reynolds, via Winthrop U, South Carolina.  Also, a new postdoc, Marites Guino-o, from Karin Ruhlandt-Senge's group at Syracuse U.

summer 2007 was busy.  Liz and Alex went to Irvine CA for the Beckman Scholars conference.  Dave and Brian went to the Organometallics Gordon Conference in Newport, RI to deliver talks and posters.  Matt Cain, a new grad student from SUNY Geneseo, arrived.  So did Angela DiCiccio, a materials REU student from Mt. Holyoke.  On July 1, Dave began his new job as department chair.

6-07 Congratulations to graduating seniors Mitch Pet '07 and Alex Rupert '07, who received chemistry department prizes. For Alex, the George Haseltine 1854 Chemistry Physics prize, for students "showing the most promise in these two subjects" and for Mitch, the Chandler T. White 1916 Research Prize, for "outstanding performance in an independent research project."

5-07 Congratulations to Liz Lane '08 and Adam Schoenfeld '09, who received Beckman Scholarships for undergraduate research.

5-07 Natalia's full paper on Pd-catalyzed asymmetric phosphination (with 10 more authors!) is now in JACS here.

2-07 Two more papers, including our first-ever in Organic Letters (intramolecular Pd-catalyzed asymmetric phosphination to make P-stereogenic benzophospholanes [link]) and Corina's paper on the mechanism of Pt-catalyzed asymmetric alkylation of a secondary phosphine in Organometallics [link] are now on the web.

11-06 Two more Corina papers on Pt-phosphido complexes (as ligands and in catalytic hydrophosphination) have been published in Organometallics here and here.

7-06 Corina's departure breaks a record -- the group has, until now, always included a European student. Brian bravely volunteered to take on this role by visiting Germany for the World Cup. You can see the result here.

6-06 Corina's paper on µ-phosphido Pt complexes is now out in Organometallics. Several new undergrads have joined the group for the summer (Andrew Lee '08, Jeff Zhao '08, and Matt Herdiech (Materials REU student from Florida Tech)).
