Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)
Material Safety Data Sheets contain information about substances used in the lab. They contain extensive safety information, for use in laboratories, as well as in industry and manufacturing. Keep in mind that you will always be using small amounts of materials in the lab, and some safety information applies of much larger quantities. For example, if you look up the MSDS for ethanol, the active ingredient of alcoholic beverages, you will learn that it is highly flamable and severely toxic and may cause death if ingested. Something to keep in mind next time someone offers you a beer.

MSDS can be accessed online using the DCIS system. You need to have Kerberos and Sidecar running to access DCIS via the Web. You can get more information and download the software here.
