Peaslee, Spuches, and Joska organized the workshop, which is designed to
help professional women in science improve their negotiation, communication,
and leadership skills. Spuches says, "We feel that although we have had
excellent scientific training at Dartmouth, we need additional tools, such as
negotiation and leadership, to launch successful scientific careers. We are
excited to host this workshop and believe that it will provide knowledge useful
for the transition into scientific careers."
The workshop was presented by the Committee on the Advancement of Women
Chemists (COACh), an organization dedicated to supporting and promoting the
careers of women in the chemical sciences. More than 20 Dartmouth women
scientists attended the day-long session sponsored by the Office of the Provost, Graduate Studies, the Department of Chemistry, the Department of Biochemistry at Dartmouth Medical School, and DCAL.
