Family Resources

For FamiliesAlthough this site exists mainly for students in their sophomore, junior and senior years, we hope that it will also provide you with helpful information. We encourage you to browse through the section pertaining to your student's year.

The Upperclass Deans Office expects students in their sophomore, junior and senior years to assume a significantly increased level of responsibility for their own education. Although we do not send grade reports home to parents/guardians, we encourage students to communicate with their family about their academic standing and progress. We do notify parents/guardians, in writing, if a student is placed on academic probation, disciplinary probation (college discipline) and/or there is a possibility of suspension or separation based on an academic or conduct situation.

Students often benefit from the support of family members and Dartmouth invites families to take part in Sophomore Family Weekend (held the summer between sophomore and junior years) as well as other campus events. We encourage you to talk with your student about any concerns you may have and will be glad to serve as support or to offer suggested resources as you have these dialogues.

Contact from family members by letter, phone calls, or email is welcomed, and we try to respond within a very short period of time. Information regarding the College's Academic Calendar can be found on the Office of the Registrar's website. Dates and information about other campus events can be found on the Student Activities Activities & Events website.
