Princess, disguised as crayons, snuck out of campus at dawn on saturday and
rolled down south to Seekonk, MA, to take Brown's Hucka Hunk o' Burnin'
Pumpkin by storm. Much to our chagrin, we found that it is actually not warmer
as one travels south through New England. I think the cold took a toll on my
short term memory, so please forgive the lack of details...
Saturday - Game 1 vs. Wellesley Stars It took a bit for our flow to warm up
and our offense wasn't quite on par to the Purple Valley game against
Wellesley. When the cap abruptly halted our game the bad guys came out on top:
4-7
Game 2 vs. Cornell Pajamas We traded points with Cornell throught the first
half and we blew right past thier nasty spirit. However, again our offense was
not the hot thang it was when we played Cornell at PV, so they managed to
storm ahead to the obnoxious hard cap and take the game: 8-11 (??)
Game 3 vs. Brown Calvins Brown was quite amused with Brooking's
"better than Brown" color name, nodded thier heads and said we shall
see. We cleaned everything up nicely in this game. finally the hard cap worked
in our favor. 7-5
Game 4 vs. Brown Alum Lumberjacks These women maybe a few years out of
college, but they can run and huck like no other. We did manage to work it
nicely up the field with our zone O, but in the end the graduates out classes
us. 13-3
(?) Many bean burritos later we retired to the Crossley Palace and
collapsed helter skelter on the beautiful carpeting. Other than a few snoring
fiascos it seemed that saturday night was all about beauty rest.
Sunday: Pre-quarters vs. Columbia To make up for a lack of warm-up time we
threw Zone right off the bat. The unstoppable Ariel-Tiff-Liz-Kat-Stoller (you
choose the 4-woman combo) cup worked like a charm. Stoller might have well
been wearing a Columbia uniform becuase they seemed to enjoy throwing to her
all day. Our pretty O finally came back and we had some nice 05 points zipping
up in to the enzone.
Quarters vs. MIT We scored a couple point right off, but then MIT's iso-offense
proved too strong. Unlike the rest of our weekend our defense was the weaker
factor in this game and MIT reminded us why they went to nationals last year.
We vowed to face them in the spring with a stronger iso-offense. watch out!
Our simple, yet dazzling theme for the weekend (crayons) proved victorious
as we came away with the Best Costume Award!! Be sure to look for stoller this
week riding around campus on the orange broom that is our costume trophy. aw,
sweet! A couple shout outs: Heather had hot hot D this weekend, your go-to is
an example for us all. Tiff played as strong as every despite bronchitus or
whatever nasty lung virus she has. In our first game yesterday a hyena came up
and chewed on Kat's left hand and made it turn funny colors. But she said,
"jokes on you hyena! i like playing with injuries!" and she
proceeded to tear things up as usual. Kate was a superstar tournament virgin
this weekend, nice work. Many many many thanks to our supa fans Jen and
raindog for freezing thier asses off to be our cheering and support squad!!!
Props to everyone for playing hard to working through the cold. Our fall
season has come to a good close. get psyched for coed play this weekend at
Frozen!
live it, love it, lay it out,
