Logging in your session (Faculty & Staff)

About logging in your session

By logging in at the start your catalog search session, you won't have to enter your name, Dartmouth ID number, and PIN every time you place a recall, request an item from Storage, or page a book or journal article from the stacks.

How to log in your session

  1. Click on the "View Your Record" button on the top menu bar.
  2. Enter your name as it appears on your Dartmouth ID, DHMC ID, or Library Card.
  3. Enter your Dartmouth ID number (e.g., 12345X)

If you have a Library Card or a DHMC ID, enter the barcode number with no spaces.

  4. Enter your four-digit Personal Identification Number (PIN).

If this is the first time you are using the View Your Record feature, you will need to create a PIN. Do this by leaving the PIN box blank. You'll be given the opportunity to create a PIN when you click the "Submit" button.

If you have forgotten your PIN, please click on the link, "Forgot your PIN?" and follow the instructions on the screen.

  5. Click on the "Submit" button.
  6. Now click on the "Search Catalog" button in the right hand column.

The catalog session will show a red LOGOUT button with a message indicating the name under which the session is registered. Now you will be able to request items or view your patron record without re-entering your name, Dartmouth ID number, and PIN.

Logging Out

If you are using a public computer, it is important to log out after you are finished using the catalog. Failure to do so could jeopardize the privacy of your library account.

  • To log out, click on the red LOGOUT button or close your browser window.
  • Your session will automatically log off after 1 hour of inactivity.
