A Bridge In Time

In the span of a lifetime
I pause for a moment
When friendships are won or lost
To see parasitic fiends
And transient dreams
On a bridge which you and I crossed.

As I burn the bridge down
I pause for a moment
And see a friend that I left in the past
She seems so long gone
But it's the same old song
When the die of my life has been cast.

With my soul on trial
I pause for a moment
For I must leave you alone on this isle
I'll remember you when
I am needing a friend
And my memory will conjur your smile.
