Week Two: Sept. 30

30 September. Brian reporting: We are staying in Tarquinia right now; this city is famous for its Etruscan tomb paintings. We started off today by going to the National Museum of Tarquinia. This museum has some of the original tomb paintings on display- they removed a few of the paintings from the ground in order to preserve them. The rest of the tombs are still intact down the street at the cemetery. We walked there and looked at all the tombs that were open and did some research for our second papers. We have the choice to write on a tomb painting or painted sarcophagus. We finished our formal day in the early afternoon and most of us stayed at the cemetery to continue researching. We are only a few miles away from the beach so we also have the option of taking a dip in the Mediterranean.
