Research: The coupling between fluids and fractures is a primary focus of Carl Renshaw's research. Results from his work aid in the interpretation of fractured formations and have many practical applications such as the enhanced recovery of natural resources and the management of groundwater supplies in fractured aquifers. His multidisciplinary approach combines quantitative theoretical and numerical modeling with experimental simulation to understand field observations of fracture and flow. His current areas of research include controls on fracture growth, the estimation of fracture geometry and fracture hydrogeology.
