Environmental Health Science Links for Journalists
NYU Information on Environmental Health Problems is an
alphabetized list of more than 125 environmental health topics, from
acid pollution to zinc, with links to contact information for people who are relevant sources on those topics. Many are
faculty at New York University, which produces and maintains the site.
The Society for Environmental Journalists is a non-profit organization of
journalists who cover the environment. Membership
is open to journalists, educators and students. Non-members may attend SEJ conferences and subscribe to the quarterly
newsletter SEJournal. The organization's web site contains a comprehensive list of links useful to reporters who cover the
environment, weekly news tips, a "gallery" of environmental news stories and a calendar of events related to the environment
and environmental policy.
Toxicology
for Journalists is a jargon-free tutorial on environmental
contaminants, including their toxic properties, environmental
distribution and rules and regulations governing their use and
disposal. The site includes information about specific chemicals
and summaries of concepts that may be useful in interpreting information
about specific chemicals, with links to more detailed information
and to scientist sources. A portion of this site describes emerging
issues in environmental toxicology. Much of the material on this
site has been created or reviewed by students in Michigan State
University's Environmental Journalism Program.
