Areas of Expertise: Molecular Toxicology, Molecular and
Environmental Epidemiology; Translational studies
Specialties: Toxicology of metals; DNA damage/repair
and cancer; Pulmonary toxicology
Research Topics/Working Groups: Molecular biomarkers; Epidemiology
of arsenic; Epidemiology of environmental agents in children;
Toxic Metals Research Program; Cancer epidemiology and chemoprevention
working group (Norris Cotton Cancer Center); Section of Biostatistics
and Epidemiology
Research: Angeline Andrew's research
interests include bladder and lung disease etiology, with a focus
on environmental exposures, particularly metals. Her work has
identified molecular disruption of fibrinolysis induced by inhaled
particulates containing nickel. She is currently researching mechanisms
for arsenic-induced cancer. She utilizes a translational approach
to identifying biologic effects and carcinogenic mechanisms of
environmental exposures that includes model systems and epidemiologic
studies of human malignancies, particularly on bladder and lung
cancers. Her studies consider external and internal measures of
exposure, biologic changes in expression and function, genetic
susceptibility, tumor characteristics and treatment.
