EPA Update

Ed Hathaway updated the group on the status of the project. An outline of his presentation is attached.

In response to a question, George Desch stated that the Commissioner of Environmental Conservation, the Secretary of the Agency of Natural Resources and the State Historic Preservation Officer are reviewing the costs associated with preserving part or all of TP-3.


Copperas Hill Coalition

Kathy Hardy submitted her resignation as director of the Copperas Hill Coalition. The CHC intends to meet soon to name a successor and to discuss its work plan for 2003.


Redevelopment Grant

Sally Mansur gave a brief summary of the results of the reuse survey that John Milner Associates conducted.


Letter to the Congressional Delegation

After considerable discussion, the EMCAG voted to amend and endorse a letter summarizing community support for the cleanup. A copy of the letter as revised is attached.

John Frietag of Citizens for a Sensible Solution was the sole vote against the letter. John stated wanted to add a sentence stating that the EMCAG believes that EPA should give a higher priority to funding sites with known human health threats than to the Elizabeth Mine cleanup.

The next EMCAG meeting will be held on December 11, 2002.
