Dr.
Cantor is an epidemiologist with the Division of Cancer Epidemiology and
Genetics at the National Cancer Institute, where he has directed studies
of cancer and environmental factors since 1977. He has a major interest
in investigating the relationship between cancer and exposure to a variety
of drinking water contaminants, including chlorination by-products, nitrate,
and arsenic. He has served as an advisor to National Academy of Sciences
committees on drinking water, and to expert drinking water and health panels
convened by the Department of Health and Human Services, EPA, and the World
Health Organization. Dr. Cantor received a Ph.D. in biophysics from the
University of California at Berkeley and an M.P.H. from the Harvard School
of Public Health.
