V. LGBTQA Groups

Events relating to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community happen every week at Dartmouth. Organizational meetings, dances, receptions, public lectures, films, and performances are all regularoccurrences. In the classroom, students find opportunities to explore gay issues through a wide range of academic course offerings. Several courses, in fact, focus specifically on LGBT history, criticism, and culture. Given these opportunities, many lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender students enjoy rich social and intellectual lives at Dartmouth. For current events and programs, Dartmouth students can refer to the blitzmail topics: Bisexual, Lesbian and Gay News, and LGBT Programming under the Blitzmail Bulletin Topics. Our home on campus is the LGBTQA Resource Center located in 204 Robinson. Feel free to drop by!
  • The Dartmouth Rainbow Alliance (DRA) is the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered, queer, and questioning organization at Dartmouth. DRA offers support to students through different channels, which may include peers, faculty, and administration. Furthermore, DRA has a variety of resources including office/study space, support/social meetings, weblinks, library, and more. We hold co-ed meetings every Thursday night and single sex meetings every Monday night for men and Tuesday night for women. DRA maintains two confidential email lists: stonewall@mac for men and apoppin@mac for women. To be added to these lists or for information about on/off campus events, lectures, social happenings, etc, blitz: dra You can also monitor the blitz bulletin: "Dartmouth Rainbow Alliance / LGBT News. Our home on campus is the LGBTQA Resource Center located in 204 Robinson, and our website is www.dartmouth.edu/~dra
  • Gay Straight Alliance is an organization that was formed in the Spring of 1999 to bridge the gap between the straight community and the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, and closeted community at Dartmouth. In addition to weekly meetings, numerous social events, we send GSA members to conferences and workshops across the country throughout the academic year. Although our main emphasis is on ally development both in the Dartmouth community and beyond, we regularly cosponsor activities with other queer-affiliated organizations such as the Dartmouth Rainbow Alliance (DRA), Questioning and Curious (QandC), and People of Color (POC). Blitz GSA for more details. All sexual orientations and gender identities welcome! Our home on campus is the LGBTQA Resource Center located in 204 Robinson. Student contacts: Amanda Gilliam 02, Brian Jacobs 02, and Jon Hollander 03. www.dartmouth.edu/~gsa
  • People of Color is a student organization that was formed in late Winter of 2000 to explore the often forgotten intersections of sexual orientation and gender identity with race, ethnicity, and nationality. In addition to weekly meetings, we regularly cosponsor events and social activities with other queer affiliated organizations, and multi-cultural organizations on campus. As a relatively new group on campus, we've got a lot of fun and exciting work to do in the coming year. All sexual orientations, gender identities, races, ethnicities, and nationalities welcome! Our home on campus is the LGBTQA Resource Center located in 204 Robinson. Blitz People of Color for more details! Student Contacts: Amanda Gilliam 02 and Yuval Ortiz-Quiroga 02
  • QandC, Questioning & Curious: If you or someone you know has questions or is curious about sexual orientation and gender identity, then Questioning & Curious is the place to be. All students are welcome to participate in these weekly discussions about what it can mean to be lesbian, gay, bisexual, and/or transgender at Dartmouth.
